Le Nouveau Complexe Hospitalier (The New Hospital Complex) is a state-of-the-art hospital complex that will deploy medical care and health services starting in 2020. It aims to consolidate all the clinical and research activities of L'Hôtel-Dieu de Québec on the site of the Hôpital de l'Enfant-Jésus.
There are multiple challenges to overcome: provide better access, an improved patient experience, anticipate and adapt to future needs and technologies all while merging the distinct cultures of the two institutions into a new alliance that will form a singular entity that is well integrated with its urban surroundings.
The project will be divided into 2 main phases.
- Phase 1 of the project includes construction of the Integrated Cancer Center (CIC), construction of a new thermal plant and a generator plant.
- Phase 2 will see the establishment of a critical care pavilion, a new research center, the addition of a cyclotron for the production of medical isotopes for research and care, a PET / CT scan in medical imaging dedicated to research, large-scale wet laboratories on several levels as well as specialized service platforms for research in oncology, hospitality, and the redevelopment/renovation of part of the Hôpital de l'Enfant-Jésus.
The NCH will also serve as a major training and teaching center for all of eastern Quebec.
